Once Upon a Time -- A Client invited me to Stay at His House. But Carl stuck me in his "Guest" house.

After Dinner -- Carl went to his Mansion. I went to my "Cottage." Nice Place Except I had Guests.

Nobody had stayed there in a long while.

I had Mice.

Lots of Noisy Mice running around the floor and in the walls.

Country Boy.

So not Freaked out by mice. But I needed a way to SCARE The Mice. And keep them out of the Cottage for One Night. Dunno about you. But I can't sleep with mice running all over the place.

(EDITORS NOTE -- Did You know mice are pretty Smart? I Once Watched a Mouse in a farmers Barn. He climbed a long piece of baling twine. (Used to tie hay in Bales.) This mouse climbed a long piece of Twine from the floor of the barn to the top of a Box suspended from chains. Inside the box? Molasses Soaked Cakes. Treats to Feed The Farmers Pets. Hung from a Chain. Suspended in Mid-air from the bucket of a Farm Tractors Hydaulic Arms. To keep The Mice Out. HA! This Mouse found a way.)

But I figured I Could Outsmart some mice. Their Brains are Tiny.

IMPORTANT TIP FOR GARDENERS. On The Farm -- if you shoot a crow. Hang it on a pole by your Garden. No Crows will eat your Corn.

Combining all this Varmint KNOW HOW... We Built a Mouse Trap.

MOUSE TRAP RECIPE

Mouse Trap Ingredients -

#1 -- Plastic 5 Gallon Bucket

#2 -- An Old Shoe String

#3 -- A Boring Romance book.

#4 -- Chocolate Chip cookies (I had in my luggage)

DIRECTIONS --

I -- We Put The Bucket in The Kitchen -- on the linoleum floor.

II -- Tied one end of the Long Boot Lace around the book.

III -- Put the book on the Bottom of the bucket.

IV -- Put a couple Chocolate Chip cookies on top of the book.

V -- Rubbed Chocolate Chips on the Shoe Lace. So the Chocolate smell led up the Shoe-lace to the top edge of the bucket.

VI -- Scattered 3 Chocolate Chips on the floor near the Outside -- bottom of the Shoe-lace.

Closed The Kitchen Door.

In 45 Minutes I had Caught a mouse.

And The NOISE of the Mouse trying to Jump Out of the Bucket -- kept the other Mice out of the cottage. Blessed Quiet.

NOW.

What is My Point?

You Might be Thinking, "Glenn, What is Your Point? Your Mouse Trap is Different from your Chipmunk Trap!"

ONE POINT IS -- The Chipmunk Trap is Better!

MY Mouse trap Only Catches One Mouse at a time.

But the Bucket and Roller Design We Adapted to Catch Mr CHIPMUNK will Catch Dozens of Mice.

I googled -- "Bucket Mouse Trap with rollers"

Found this Do-It- Yourselfer. He used Soda Cans as his rollers.

POINT TWO -- You have to know what BAIT to use.

I know mice LOVE Chocolate chips.

But I Was Not Sure About Mr Chipmunk. So I used Both Peanut Butter and walnuts. I stuck English walnuts into the peanut butter.

TOTAL FAILURE after 3 days with my Chipmunk Trap. (UPDATE: While I Failed to Catch Mr Chipmunk. When I went to Dismantle my Trap. I Discovered I had Caught 2 Mice!)

The Roller Concept is Great. But I think My BAIT is wrong.
